If your new clock is equipped with a radio-controlled timepiece, it will automatically be set on time after inserting a battery. The changeover from summer to winter time also takes place automatically.

Instructions for the various types of clocks

If after a while the clock starts spinning endlessly, it is in almost all cases the battery is empty. After changing the battery, the clock will function normally again. If the hands of the clock still rotate after inserting the new battery, it is useful to reset the clock. You do this by inserting the battery the other way around for a few seconds (plus to minus) and then reinserting it in the correct way (plus to plus).

If your new clock is radio controlled, it makes sense to follow the instructions below. If the clock is fitted with a new battery, the timepiece will go to the 12-hour, 4-hour or 8-hour position and wait in that position for the radio signal from the atomic clock, which can sometimes take a while. Sometimes the signal cannot reach the clock (Faraday cage) and it makes sense to place the clock near a window for a while. The current radio-controlled clocks are set up for summer and winter time and will adjust this time themselves. In practice, this can take up to a day before the time is changed.
